It's hot here. Maybe not like South Florida hot or Arizona hot, but it's a muggy, heavy hot. Good for skin moisture, curly hair (if you have curly hair; mine is stick-straight) and tubing in the river, but not much else. Some people call them the dog days of Summer, and I can relate. Muggy days just make me want to take a nap. Or eat ice cream.
Mmmm, ice cream. Not only the flavors, but the colors as well. Strawberry, pistachio, fudge swirl. I'm back in the studio after June shoulder surgery, and virtually every stone reminds me of a flavor of ice cream.
Allow me to show you what I mean, so let's just dive in, shall we? I'll count down to my favorite flavor. (If the finished piece is listed on my Etsy site, there will be a link on the photo).
Bubblegum Ice Cream = Larimer
Fudge Swirl = Petrified Palm Root
Strawberry = Pink Opalite
Vanilla Bean = Druzy
Jamoca Almond Fudge = Peanut Wood
Pistachio = New Jade (as opposed to old jade, I guess)
Blueberry = Charoite
Chocolate Chip = Dalmation Jasper
Chocolate - Peanut Wood
Mint Chocolate Chip (my favorite!!) = Kiwi Jasper
Now that I've whetted your appetite, you have a choice: head to the nearest ice cream store (I think I should get a kickback for all the ice cream I just sold), or head to my Etsy store and get yourself some ice cream-inspired jewelry (it won't melt, and your hips will thank you).
Until next month,
