Happy New Year! I like to kick off every new year thinking about how I can contribute to peace in the world. To quote Michael Jackson, I’m starting with the (wo)man in the mirror. And because I do what I do, that often starts in my studio, surrounded by gemstones and wire. Other than that, you might just see me resorting to driving around with a giant peace sign on my car!
Energetically speaking, gemstones are more than just a pretty face. Whether you believe in the “woo-woo” aspect of energetic healing, even science skeptics have to admit that everything is made up of energy, and the different vibrations of gemstones based on their color, density, etc, can also correlate to energy of emotions and our bodies, among other things. Periodically, a client will find themselves drawn to a particular stone. Once we look into the energetic properties of the stone, more often than not, it turns out that that stone is known to have a quality that that person needs at that moment. So, in 2018, in addition to providing education on different stones, I’ll delve a little deeper into the energetic healing aspects of the stones as well. So let’s get started.
The first thing that comes to mind is Amethyst. Not only is the color beautiful, and when it’s cut in facets, it is so pretty to look at, but also it’s vibration promotes calm, balance, and peace. I picked this one to go first because it’s also the closest to the 2018 Pantone Color of the Year: Ultra Violet. That, and I’m kind of an alphabetical girl, so I had to start there.
